Even if you buy a high-strength marine-grade material, it will still fail and dent if the thickness is insufficient for the point load of a hard trolley wheel. A 4.0mm 3003 Aluminum Tread Plate will perform significantly better and last longer under a pallet jack than a thin 2.0mm 5052 Aluminum Tread Plate, while usually being more cost-effective. Always prioritize meeting the thickness threshold for your specific load before spending money on upgrading the alloy.

When Should You Switch From 3003 To 5052 Aluminum Diamond Plate?
3003 is excellent and economical for the majority of standard cold rooms. However, there are limits to its yield strength.
If your engineering requirement dictates a thickness exceeding 4.5 mm or 5.0 mm due to extreme heavy-duty forklift traffic, many major logistics projects will switch to 5052 aluminum checker plates. The 5052 alloy contains magnesium, giving it a much higher yield strength. In extremely heavy load scenarios, a 5052 plate offers better long-term resistance to deformation than a very thick 3003 plate.
